Best friends since attending the same secondary school Joe Tait who was a delivery driver and Stuart Chown who was a driver’s mate decided transport was to be their future and in 2001 Platinum Express Couriers, later changed to Platinum Transport Solutions was born.
Initially working out of a bedroom at Joe’s mums they quickly moved into their first office in Crayford, predominately running vans for two man work and from then onto their first Belvedere operating centre where they moved into the supply of HGV’s with Stuart achieving his CPC in Transport Management whilst Joe concentrated on the business development side.
With limited experience but bundles of passion and determination they both worked hard to learn all they could about transport and business as a whole and before long, the very family orientated Platinum Transport Solutions became the go to company.
Not satisfied with just expanding the fleet they decided to explore the warehousing route as an additional service, so moved again to a site which contained a modest warehouse where they were able to further learn their craft.
In 2018 with the economy up and down, another move to bigger premises was on the horizon and both still not feeling that Platinum Transport was reaching its full potential the decision was made to move into a more specialised transport provision, having the rare ability to predict what will become popular the Lorry Mounted Forklift was chosen.
Getting this decision spot on, another major leap was in place in 2023 when Platinum moved into their current home acquiring a much nicer automated warehousing space and large office. It was at this time that Joe and Stuart decided maybe it was time to consider hanging up their hats and concentrating on their other business interests.
Via way of management buyout, Abbe Gillen who has worked within the business since 2012, initially in HR and compliance and later in accounts and just so happens to be Joe’s sister, along with Martin Webb with his vast knowledge of everything transport and compliance related and who had been with Platinum since 2019 took up the reins.
Remaining in Belvedere in its 80,000sq ft warehousing capacity site and continuing to be the family orientated business it has always been, Platinum Transport Solutions today offers a fleet of regular 18T and 44T vehicles, Lorry mounted forklifts, Hiabs, warehousing and consolidation along with being able to store and transport dangerous goods, continues going from strength to strength.

Delivery FAQs
How do you charge?
Our vehicles are charged based on two factors – The mileage covered and the time required to complete the job. Some of our customers find a day rate price suits them better, meaning they can get multiple deliveries completed within a set time.
When do customers pay?
You can pay in advance for your transport or on account (for regular clients - subject to a satisfactory credit check)
What type of goods do you typically deliver?
We deliver anything and everything. From multimillion pound aircraft engines, right down to pallets of sweets.
Are there any goods that you can’t deliver?
There is nothing we cannot deliver. Some items require extra consideration, however, our staff and drivers are trained to handle all types of freight.
How long can you store goods at your warehouse?
Goods can be stored in our warehousing facility indefinitely.
What happens if you break my goods?
All damage claims are covered under the RHA conditions of Carriage 2020 and RHA conditions of Warehousing 2020.
What happens if they arrive late?
Whilst we strive to deliver your freight on time every time, there is a small chance a delivery will be made later than expected due to issues outside of our control. In this instance, we will keep in constant contact with you, advising when delivery will be made.

Step 1: Goods are sent from the manufacturer to the shipping agent
Step 2: Goods are brought into the UK and are sent to Platinum Transport for consolidation
Step 3: Goods are checked by our warehousing team and are stored in our consolidation centre
Step 4: Goods are stored at Platinum Transport until the client calls them off for final-mile delivery
Step 5: Platinum Transport checks the goods out & conducts the final mile delivery using our specialist equipment
